STORM TROOPERS (SA)
In 1930's there had been an increased cooperaton between OUN (Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists) and German representatives of National-Socialist movement. OUN was represented in Germany by Rico (Richard) Jahry who being friends with Alfred Rosenberg, got access to the high ranking Nazi officials and even meet with Hitler. Through his skillful diplomacy Rico was granted state fundings for OUN and military training for organization's young members. In 1933 Jahry sign a contract with Ernst Roehm on the basis of which numbers of young Ukrainians were accepted to the Brown-shirt Storm Troopers (SA). Ernst Roehm himself had been a great supporter of Ukrainian cause. Even prior him joining the Nazi party, he already was involved with Ukrainian Independence movement. He supported the movement as much as possible and went as far as personally delivering explosives to UVO (Ukrainian Military Organization) through the Ukrainian students in Munchen in years 1922-23. Therefore he willingly accepted Ukrainians into the brownshirts. There they learned the necessary military skills which they were to utilize in future. The headquarters were supposibly located at Jahry's OUN residence at Glocknitz in Austria. A number of Ukrainians from Reichsdeutche and Volkdeutche also joined SA. During the Ribbentrop-Molotov pact those Germans who did not want to be in the Soviet zone were allowed to be taken to Germany. This was also offered to many Ukrainins who were given a status of Reichdeutche or Volksdeutche, to escape the Communist persecution. After the formation of General Gouvernment many choose to return to Galicia where many of them joined the local SA.
